I grew up in Europe, and was early on fascinated by the stark contrasts and differences of places that are relatively close together. When I take pictures, this fascination comes into play, and I find something magical everywhere I go. I believe that showing the beauty of places is a wonderful way of taking someone on a little journey. It also contributes to bringing people together and in some cases helps lessen preconceptions. I have, to my personal delight, heard people say many times, “I never knew this country to be so beautiful” when I photographed lesser known places
